The USO strengthens America's military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, throughout their service to the nation.
For 75 years, the USO, a private, nonprofit organization, has served the men and women in the U.S. military and their families throughout their service – from the moment they join, through their deployments and as they transition back to their communities. At hundreds of locations worldwide, the USO is united in its commitment to connect service members and their families through countless acts of caring, comfort, and support. The USO's programs, services and entertainment tours are made possible by the American people, support of corporate partners and the dedication of volunteers and staff. They are also supported through the United Way and Combined Federal Campaign (CFC-11381). To join in this important mission, and to learn more about the USO, please visit uso.org.
When you choose to donate your car to the USO, you are part of something bigger and better – a source of great personal satisfaction for many. The satisfaction is even greater when you know that Cars2Charities works to maximize the value of your gift.
Donating a car is fast, easy, and free. Simply complete the online form above, or call us anytime and one of our highly trained USO vehicle donation coordinators will listen to your needs and respond with expert answers. You provide just a few quick details about your vehicle, and then we determine which of our processing centers to dispatch for a pickup.
We listen to what works for you in terms of date, time-frame, location for pickup – whether that's at your residence, place of business, auto repair shop or storage unit. Once we know you're ready, we email your temporary Vehicle Donation Receipt with your donation ID# and other relevant facts – including an outline of our commitments to you.
In many states, we file your Release of Liability with the DMV (but in other states you may need to remove your plates and/or fill out a brief form online, and there is typically no need to visit the DMV in person). Once your vehicle arrives, we evaluate what if any repairs or enhancements might enhance its value. We choose the best channel to market your donated vehicle and work hard to maximize the value of your gift.
Within 30 days of its sale, you'll receive 2 copies of IRS Form 1098-C: one for you, and one for your tax prepaper. USO and the IRS get a copy of the same, showing the date you donated, the date it was sold, its sale price and other relevant facts so there is always 100% transparency. If you have questions at any time during the process, we are on call to answer and to follow up if needed. Although such follow-up is rarely needed, it's good to know it's available when you are.

Yes, the USO accepts vehicle donations of all kinds: not just cars, but also trucks, vans, SUVs, RVs, motorhomes, campers, trailers, motorcycles – even golf carts in some cases. For a quarter century now, the USO has been committed to helping America's service members and those who love and support them, at home and abroad. Your vehicle donations to the USO help keep our men and women in uniform connected to their family, home and country.
While the USO has more than 180 locations worldwide, the majority of those are on and around military bases and airports across the country. Today's USO continuously adapts to the needs of our men and women so they in turn can remain focused on their very important missions. The USO operates centers at or near military bases across the country and around the globe -- including in combat zones.
Across the country, USO airport centers provide around-the clock hospitality for service members who are traveling – and for their families. The trademark USO tours bring America and its celebrities to service members who are far from home, entertaining them and conveying the support of our nation. A range of specialized programs offer a continuum support throughout their years of service, from the first time they put on their uniform until they leave the service.
The USO is not part of the federal government. It is a congressionally chartered, private organization, and the USO relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations and corporations to support its activities. It is powered by the many volunteers who give themselves to accomplish our mission of connection. Learn more about what the USO does for service members, military families, transitioning service members, families of the fallen and wounded, ill and injured service members.
America's 1.3 million active duty service members receive an estimated annual total of 10 million acts of connection from USO centers, services and volunteers. When you donate a car to the USO, you help service members stay connected, and you celebrate their achievements. Check out some of the stories of how the USO makes all the difference. Your vehicle donation supports not only service members but encourages volunteers and families, both here and across the world.
When you take action – whether that is donating a car, van, truck, SUV or other vehicle to the USO, getting involved by volunteering your time, or starting your own campaign to raise money for our service members – your contribution helps support our heroes. So thank you – for your vehicle donation and for all you do to help us provide great programs for our service members and their families.
