Aliso Viejo Christian School: Faith, Education, and Community

Aliso Viejo Christian School (AVCS) is a ministry of Lutheran Church of the Cross dedicated to providing students with an excellent education in a safe, secure, and Christ-centered environment. Located in Aliso Viejo, California, the school serves students from Junior Kindergarten through Eighth Grade and integrates the Christian faith throughout every aspect of its educational experience.

At AVCS, teaching the Christian faith is integrated into all that the school does. The school believes in one God who is eternally revealed through the Creator, our Heavenly Father and source of knowledge; through Jesus Christ, His only Son and our source of salvation; and through the Holy Spirit, the Sustainer and Giver of Faith. Qualified Christian teachers provide students with an environment built on safety, security, respect, academic excellence, and the love of Christ.

A Growing School Community

The history of Aliso Viejo Christian School began in 1999, when Lutheran Church of the Cross broke ground to begin construction of the school. The original campus included nine classrooms, school and church offices, a multipurpose room that served as a worship space, chapel, and gym, as well as a kitchen. The five-acre property also included a soccer field and a full play structure.

As the school community grew, AVCS expanded its campus and educational opportunities. In 2001, the second phase of construction was completed, adding a state-of-the-art, two-story building with 13 classrooms, a computer technology lab, and a library. This expansion allowed the school to increase enrollment, provide two classrooms for each grade level, and offer additional classroom options for middle school students.

In 2010, Aliso Viejo Christian School expanded once again with the construction of a third building. This addition included a state-of-the-art gymnasium and theater, The Cove youth room with a small stage and game center, three classrooms, a spirit store, athletic offices, and a dedicated instrumental music room. The expansion also relocated and improved the school’s outdoor basketball courts and playground, which was later completely covered by a shade structure.

Today, Aliso Viejo Christian School has approximately 400 students enrolled in Junior Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. As the largest ministry of Lutheran Church of the Cross, AVCS continues to provide a non-denominational Christian environment where students receive an academically enriching education grounded in faith in Jesus Christ.
