As an open-admission shelter, the independent nonprofit shows compassion to unwanted pets by providing the highest quality veterinary medicine, ensuring their health and welfare. Thousands of animals are receiving proper treatment and care instead of being euthanized, thanks to their good work. Kittens in San Diego are rescued and receive round-the-clock care in the Kitchen Nursery program, which has aided more than 13,000 felines since it was established in 2009. It is so well run that the Kitchen Nursery has served as a model for similar facilities across the country. Your generosity is extended to animals in need – more than 60,000 per year – by finding adoptive families and offering spay and neutering for dogs and cats. When they place adopted pets, they find loving homes and make sure the animals are vaccinated and microchipped. The costs total is more than $40,000 per day.
